Chantana Chantrapornchai

Chantana Chantrapornchai obtained her Bachelor degree from Thammasat University of Thailand in 1991. Her major was Computer Science. In December 1992, she got a scholarship from the Royal Thai Government to study aboard to pursue her Master degree and Ph.D degree. She graduated from Northeastern University at Boston, College of Computer Science, in 1993 and University of Notre Dame, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in 1999, for her Master and Ph.D degrees respectively. Her research supervisor was Prof. Dr. Edwin Sha who is currently affiliated with University of Texas at Dallas. She was an associated professor of Dept. of Computing, Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University, Thailand. Currently, she is an associated professor of Dept. of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, Thailand.

Her current research includes the following aspects.

  1. How to accelerate semantic web processing using many-core architectures such as GPU, and cluster ofmany-core architectures. We am interested especially in working on large semantic web data and designing the good data representation as well as the algorithms for processing in such architectures.
Also, the library implementation of these are developed. Also, there is a co-operation with the University of Muenster, Germany, about developing the supported framework for such the processing by extending the SkelCL (https://github.com/skelcl/skelcl).
  2. The parallelization of HGMS applications. We are interested in parellelizing the process of nanoparticle capturing (http://www.hindawi.com/journals/tswj/2014/519654/). It is the computation-intensive application. The HGMS are useful for many applications in the factory or in the medical area, especially in drug targeting. We are using the GPUs to compute the simulation and perform visualization. The example of the results are
  1. Ontology design and construction. Currently, we are building an ontology as well as the data sets in two areas: health-tourism (http://datahub.io/dataset/hua-hin-health-tourism-data-set) and cytogentic data. The aspects of designed ontologies are studied as well as the automatic data generation for the ontology structure for large data sets. We are also interested in the semantic web service and platform on clouds for accesing these data sets. The tested information services are at http://health-tourism.info/huahin/pages/home.faces.
